An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed Consultant in Neonatal Medicine to join a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team within a forward-thinking NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a substantive full-time Consultant post in Neonatal Medicine, offering a unique opportunity to work in a busy and well-established neonatal unit providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population. The unit is part of a Level 3 neonatal intensive care network, with a strong focus on family-integrated care, quality improvement, and innovation.
You will join a team of experienced consultants and will be supported by advanced neonatal nurse practitioners, junior doctors, and specialist nursing staff. The role involves contributing to the delivery of inpatient neonatal care, participation in clinical governance and teaching, and opportunities to lead or contribute to research and service development projects.
Main Duties
- Provide high-quality consultant-led care to neonates admitted to the Level 3 neonatal unit, including intensive, high-dependency, and special care.
- Lead daily ward rounds and participate in clinical decision-making for inpatients, including ventilated and complex cases.
- Supervise and support junior medical staff, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (ANNPs), and neonatal nurses.
- Attend high-risk deliveries and provide resuscitation and immediate postnatal care where required.
- Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and service development projects.
- Support or lead neonatal research projects and contribute to the Trust’s research strategy.

Requirements
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- Specialist Registration in Paediatrics (Neonatal Medicine), or within 6 months of entering
- MRCPCH
- Safeguarding level 3
- Substantial work in Neonatology including recent work in NICU
- Experience teaching undergraduates/junior doctors
