An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Consultant in General Paediatrics to join a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team in a busy district general hospital setting. The post includes responsibilities in general paediatrics as well as contribution to the Level 1 Neonatal Unit (SCBU).

You will be part of a well-established team delivering high-quality, consultant-led paediatric care across inpatient, outpatient and neonatal settings. The successful applicant will participate in the consultant-of-the-week rota, providing leadership and hands-on care for acute paediatric and neonatal admissions. On-call responsibilities are shared among a team of committed consultants


Main Duties: 

  • Deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to children and newborns.
  • Participate in a 1:8 consultant on-call rota for general paediatrics and Level 1 neonatal care.
  • Engage in clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and teach junior medical staff and medical students.
  • Participate in departmental simulation training and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • GMC Specialist Registration in Paediatrics (or within 6 months of CCT).
  • Strong clinical skills in general paediatrics and neonatal care.
  • Valid NLS/APLS certification and Level 3 safeguarding training.
  • Excellent communication, teaching and team-working skills
