The Trust is seeking enthusiastic Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join our expanding and dynamic team. With a modern ED footprint serving over 140,000 patients annually, you'll help shape the future of emergency care while enjoying an exceptional work-life balance in the vibrant city of Norwich.
Main Duties:
• You will work across the Emergency Department including the Resuscitation area, Majors, Ambulatory Care, Minor Injuries/Illnesses Unit, and purpose-built Children’s and Older People’s EDs.
• Patient caseloads include all age groups with presentations ranging from minor injuries to major trauma.
• The ED team includes 28 Consultants, 70 junior doctors, ACPs, PAs, ENPs, and strong nursing/admin support, with robust pre-hospital collaboration through East Anglian Air Ambulance.
• On-call rota is currently 1:8 weekends, with full self-rostering and a healthy mix of day, evening, and night shifts.
• Non-clinical time is protected and allocated for audit, research, teaching (UEA Medical School), and departmental leadership roles. Opportunities for special interests in Pre-Hospital Care, Research & QI, Teaching, Frailty, and Resuscitation Leadership.
The Hospital:
• 1,200-bed acute teaching hospital and designated Trauma Unit aiming to become a Major Trauma Centre.
• Full range of acute and specialist services including Paediatrics, Geriatrics, Oncology, Orthopaedics, and Critical Care.
• Operates on two sites: One main hospital and one Minor Injuries Unit.

Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
• Full GMC registration
• Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Emergency Medicine (or within 6 months of achieving CCT)
• FRCEM or equivalent
• ALS, APLS/EPLS, and ATLS provider status
• Demonstrable experience in adult and paediatric emergency medicine
• Commitment to education, training, and clinical governance
• Desirable: Instructor status in life support courses, postgraduate qualifications, research interest, or experience in leadership or frailty/emergency geriatrics
