Consultant Clinical Oncologist - Colorectal and Gynaecology
- £105,504 to £139,882
- UK, East Midlands
- Permanent
An NHS Foundation Trust in the South East is looking to appoint a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a specialist interest in colorectal and gynaecological cancers.
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing services in colorectal and gynaecological oncology, working closely with experienced colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams. The position is a full-time role, with 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, comprising 7.5 DCC and 2.5 SPA. Additional PAs may be negotiated if suitable.
This role includes direct clinical care for patients undergoing radiotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary team (MDT) participation. The position also requires contribution to the supervision of junior medical staff and clinical audit, as well as research and development where appropriate.
While the focus is on colorectal and gynaecological cancer pathways, there may be some flexibility depending on the candidate's interests and departmental needs. The successful candidate will join a proactive, collaborative team of consultants and will be encouraged to participate in service innovation, guideline development and continuous quality improvement initiatives. There will also be opportunities to take on teaching responsibilities for medical students and trainees.
The Hospital
This is a large NHS Trust, providing comprehensive acute and specialist services to a broad patient population. The Trust hosts a state-of-the-art oncology centre that delivers radiotherapy, chemotherapy and supportive care to patients with a wide range of cancers.
The department includes advanced radiotherapy technologies such as VMAT, IGRT and SABR. The radiotherapy service operates from a purpose-built facility equipped with modern linear accelerators and specialist imaging. There is robust support from medical physicists, therapy radiographers, and oncology nursing staff.
Oncology services are integrated into the regional cancer network, allowing for collaborative care, clinical trials participation, and peer support. The hospital also offers electronic prescribing and comprehensive oncology information systems to support safe and efficient care delivery.
The Location
This position is based in a town located in the South East of England, offering a balanced lifestyle with countryside living and nearby cities within easy reach. It is well-connected by road and rail, featuring a mix of historic charm and modern amenities.
The local population benefits from a tight-knit local community, excellent schools and a wide range of cultural and leisure opportunities to keep the family entertained. For those relocating, the area provides a variety of affordable housing options and is considered an ideal place to raise a family while still being within reach of larger urban centres.

- Full registration with the GMC and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Clinical Oncology (or within 6 months of attaining CCT)
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (or equivalent)
- Extensive experience in Clinical Oncology, particularly radiotherapy and SACT
- Interest and experience in colorectal and gynaecological oncology
- Excellent communication and team-working skills
- Evidence of commitment to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
