BDI Resourcing are seeking a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist to join a well-established Community Mental Health Team based in a vibrant coastal town in South Wales. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and innovative team environment delivering high-quality care in a community setting, with strong links to education, research, and service development.

Main Duties

  • Setting: The post is based in a community clinic and covers Areas 1 and 2 of the local CMHT. There are no inpatient ward responsibilities.
  • Patients: Adults with a wide range of mental health conditions including mood disorders, psychosis, ADHD, and complex presentations.
  • Team: You will join a multidisciplinary team of consultant psychiatrists, specialty doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, OTs, and administrators.
  • On-Call Rota: 1:14, non-residential, primarily offering phone support with occasional face-to-face assessments.
  • Non-Clinical Time: Includes 3 SPAs for CPD, audit, teaching, quality improvement, and research. Additional opportunities in education and service development are encouraged.

The Hospital

This Health Board provides adult and older people’s mental health services, forensic psychiatry, rehabilitation, and substance misuse services. It operates across multiple sites with strong university partnerships and research involvement. There are comprehensive support facilities including IT systems, secretarial support, and modern clinic infrastructure.

The Location

The clinic is located in a scenic and historic coastal city in South Wales. It is family-friendly, with good schools, affordable housing, and excellent public services. The city offers:

Requirements

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • Full MRCPsych or international equivalent
  • GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register (Adult Psychiatry) or within 6 months of achieving CCT
  • Approved Clinician and Section 12(2) status (or eligibility)
  • Experience in community psychiatry and multidisciplinary collaboration
