Job Title – Staff Specialist / Visiting Medical Officer – Emergency Medicine
Salary Range – Competitive, based on experience
Location – New South Wales, Australia
Duration – Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Main Duties:

An exciting opportunity exists to join a NSW Emergency Department as a Staff Specialist / Visiting Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine. In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality emergency medical care to adult and paediatric patients.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff, including clinical case reviews and decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing managers to optimise patient flow and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Communicate with admitting teams, retrieval services, and tertiary referral centres for patient escalation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records.
  • Participate in clinical audits, peer reviews, and hospital quality improvement programs.
  • Engage in teaching, training, and research to support medical education.
  • Support a positive team culture, ensuring professional standards are upheld.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need:

  • Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent.
  • OR Eligibility for registration with AHPRA as a specialist in Emergency Medicine.
