This Trust are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their General Medicine service within the Trust. Applicants will be expected to provide Registrar-level (ST3+) medical cover for the department alongside their other registrars.
The Trust has a friendly, motivated and supportive General Medicine department which treats around 80,000 patients at each site, per year.
The post is available to applicants who have clinical experience and qualifications equivalent to ST3 level or above.
The job will however provide you with an opportunity to gain excellent experience in the management of acutely unwell medical patients and to develop your personal development portfolio.
Main Duties:
To provide high quality care to patients including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff.
To be proactive in ensuring that all patients receive quick assessment, treatment, and clinical decision-making, whilst ensuring that the Acute medical take standards are adhered to.
During on call duty, you will support clinical working in conjunction with ED nurse in charge and fellow junior doctors to ensure that there is effective and timely communication between the clinical team maintaining optimal patient flow.
To participate in relevant audit, departmental teaching, and quality assurance processes.
You will be supported by a Clinical Supervisor together with administrative staff to ensure your personal development plans are met.
The Hospital:
You’ll be based at a large acute district general hospital. You’ll be well-supported by the team here, they have a good history of getting international doctors used to the NHS.
The location:
The hospital is located close by to Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. Edinburgh is regularly rated amongst the best cities to live in the UK, and for good reason! The city itself has some beautiful architecture and famous landmarks such as Edinburgh Castle. It’s a friendly and welcoming place, it’s the 2nd most visited city in the UK after London. The city is very used to catering to people from all ranges of backgrounds as a result.
Being in Scotland, you’ll be able to benefit from the lower cost of living compared to the rest of the UK. Glasgow is a short train ride/car ride away. The Highlands is just a couple of hours up north if you want to experience the great outdoors, it provides some of the most stunning scenery the UK has to offer.
Requirements:

- GMC registration complete or in process.
- MRCP or another relevant post-graduate qualification (USMLE, PLAB, Sri Lankan MD)
- At least 2 years of Registrar level experience either overseas or in the UK
