This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor in oncology to join a diverse and friendly team in the South East of England. The post will be a balanced mixture of inpatient and outpatient clinical activity with tumour site rotations to support wider NHS oncology exposure and signing-off competencies for CESR portfolio. Relevant further clinical and educational supervision will be encouraged to support long-term professional development in oncology. Doctors in clinical oncology will be considered and offered protected radiotherapy planning time. It will be a full-time 10PA job plan and the main duties of the post will be
- Participating in outpatient clinics
- Contributing towards multi-disciplinary team meetings
- Prescribing SACT
- Planning RT (if relevant)
- Recruiting into clinical trials
- Caring for inpatients/wards
- Managing oncological emergencies with the acute assessment unit
- Teaching and training junior colleagues

Cancer Centre
The Cancer Centre is part of a University Hospital Trust which serves a population of nearly 2 million. There are several hospital sites, and this post is likely to be based at the two main Oncology hospitals. The radiotherapy facilities provided in the two main hospitals include CT simulators and LinAcs. Treatment is VMAT delivered with IGRT and there will be the opportunity to work in SABR and brachytherapy. There are custom-built Oncology outpatient clinics and chemo units and a well-established acute oncology service which is well-staffed by nurses.
You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team, working with consultants, surgeons, physicians, and nurse specialists and contribute towards regular multidisciplinary team meetings. There are trainee registrars rotating in the Trust, so you’ll have lots of opportunities for teaching and training. The Cancer Centre is home to active cancer research teams which actively run clinical trials and collaborate closely with local Medical Schools and Universities.

- The Trust is close to a couple of major coastal cities, which are large enough to have access to everything which you need, and small enough to be safe and friendly
- You benefit from being a short walk away from stunning beaches as well as being surrounded by protected national parks and beautiful countryside
- There are plenty of top schools in the area for all ages as well as major UK Universities
- There are reliable and regular transport links nationally, as well as an airport nearby for international travel
Requirements
- Full GMC Registration with License to Practice, or invitation to ID check (essential)
- Previous specialty specific Oncology experience (essential)
- PLAB (UK), MRCP (UK) or equivalent post-graduate medical qualification (desirable)
