A Welsh Health Board is looking to recruit a dedicated Senior Clinical Fellow in Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) and Respiratory High Dependency Unit (HDU). This is an exciting opportunity for applicants keen on developing a sub-specialist interest in Respiratory failure and Respiratory High Dependency. 

Role and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will partake in local/national audits and research projects, local and national presentations are also supported.

  • Provide comprehensive care to patients with acute respiratory failure within the Respiratory High Care Unit.
  • Develop advanced skills in NIV to support the 8-bedded high care unit within the respiratory floor.
  • Participate in the acute general medicine on-call rota, delivering expert management for general medical patients.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to collaborative patient care and service development.
  • Mentor and supervise junior medical staff, fostering a supportive educational environment.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit, quality improvement projects, and adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Contribute to the NIV Retrieval service, reviewing new NIV admissions and being actively involved in their assessment and management.

The Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  •  GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a broad range of respiratory conditions and general medical emergencies
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and participation in clinical governance activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable Criteria:

  • Full MRCP
  • NIV experience
  • Understanding of evidence based best practice for treatment of patients in Respiratory Failure requiring NIV
  • Previous NHS experience
