This a fantastic opportunity for a doctor who is looking to join a supportive trust with an excellent onboarding process for overseas doctors.
The trust will initially start you at SHO grade before moving you onto the Registrar rota when you are comfortable. The clinical experienced offered will be ideal to help prepare for postgraduate examinations or for wider professional development.
Main Duties:
As a Senior Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics, you be expected to:
- Participate in the 14-person full shift rota.
- Work within the team to provide on-going high-quality care for inpatients and seeing referrals in the Children’s Observation and Assessment Unit or in the Emergency Department.
- Attend ward rounds, out-patient clinics and visit to individual patients as necessary.
- Take part in the supervision of the work of junior medical doctors in the Paediatric wards, the assessment unit, the postnatal wards, the delivery suite and the clinics.
- Attend the “post-take” ward rounds with the Consultant on-call.
- Participate in teaching and training of junior staff, medical students, nurses and paramedics where appropriate.
- Ensure children are fit for discharge.
- Become acquainted with management protocols for Paediatrics and help to update them.
- Fulfil the duty of the weekly timetable including any out-of-hours responsibilities.
- Share responsibility with colleagues for the day-to-day management of the paediatric department.
- Ensure delivery of a high-quality Paediatric service.
- Have awareness of the public health aspects of children’s health.
- Attend meetings as appropriate.
The Hospital:
The offer holder will be working in the largest Acute Trust in the Northwest of the UK, rated “Good” by the CQC.
This position will offer exposure to a very diverse range of cases. The Paediatric service cares for many children with a variety of complex and rare conditions, as well as those with more common problems.
The Location:
The Trust is located in a large modern town in the Northwest, with a population of around 150,000. It is a multicultural area, popular with overseas doctors for the following reasons:
- Access to major international airports, making to easy to visit friends and family
- A lower cost of living compared to many other parts of the UK, making it particularly attractive for families who are dependent on one salary
- An established international community
- The town is surrounded by the stunning natural scenery of the Lake District, which is popular with holidaymakers
- Within an hour of both Liverpool and Manchester, two major UK cities
Requirements:
The team are open to applicants from the UK or from overseas and will support you in settling into the new role.

- Full MRCPCH (essential).
- GMC Registration.
- OET or IELTS.
- 5+ years of clinical experience.
- Registrar (or equivalent) level experience.
