The Trust are looking for an enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Doctor to join the department as a Senior Clinical Fellow. This is an exciting opportunity for an Emergency Medicine Doctor who is looking to be at the centre of delivering modern Emergency Medicine service across the Emergency Department of a large hospital in the South of London. As part of the role there will be opportunities to develop specialist interested and take part in a number of service improvement and clinical specialist areas such as Sepsis, Trauma, Mental Health and Paediatrics. The post is intended to offer Emergency Department experience and an opportunity for the Doctor to improve their skills in dealing with acutely unwell children and adults.

Duties and Responsibilities

A job plan will be provided before joining the department and this will be reviewed annually. The duties and responsibilities include:

  • Participate in the departmental active audit programme
  • Participate in monthly clinical governance meetings
  • Help supervise and teach medical students
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team
  • Attend morning handover at 8am if starting at 8am
  • Assessment and management of patients the Adult and Paediatric Emergency Department including the:
  • Acutely unwell adults and children – medical and surgical emergencies
  • Resuscitation
  • Minor injuries, minor illnesses – UTC stream
  • To comply with the Trust’s Safe Guarding Children and Vulnerable Adults policies, procedures and protocols.

The Hospital and the Emergency department

The Emergency Department at the Hospital is one of the busiest in London and is a designated Trauma Unit part of a Trauma Network. The department had a £21 million redevelopment of the ED in 2018 and the development has increased the footprint of the department by a third. Resus now has 6 adult and 2 paediatric cubicles (previously 4 and 1). Each clinical room has a Mindray cardiac monitor linked up to the Consultant in charge’s desk. The Hospital is an Urgent Treatment Centre and is fully integrated into the Paediatric ED.

Location

The hospital is based in the Greater London area where it has direct methods of access into the capital via the train, tram, or motorway systems. The location boasts a large number of schools that are rated as “Outstanding” by the Office for Standard in Education (OFSTED). With a large multicultural population and mixture of shops you will have everything you will need to comfortably settle down.

Requirements

  • MRCEM
  • 2 years’ experience in Emergency Medicine
  • Valid ALS provider certification
