This large university teaching hospital are looking for a middle grade to join their high-performing General Paediatrics team due to several trainees deciding to move to part-time positions. The department here are fantastic to work with and are incredibly supportive of any new doctors that join them. The post is a full-time middle grade position within general paediatrics but exposure in sub-specialties will be on offer for any doctors who have specific interests they’d like to pursue.

Main Duties:

  • You’ll spend the majority of your time working on the general paediatrics ward, covering both ward care and acute admissions to the children’s department.
  • On-call rota work will be included. The current rota is set to a 1:10 but this is subject to change.
  • As a senior member of the team, you’ll be expected to assist with the training and supervision of junior doctors in department.
  • You will work closely alongside the nursing team providing support to paediatric ward patients from all medical and surgical specialities.
  • Department actively encourage their middle grades to pursue sub-specialties here alongside their general paediatrics duties.
  • You will be expected to keep your clinical skills regularly up-to-date with CPD. Regular training is offered with regards to procedures, safeguarding and paediatric sub-specialties.  

The Hospital:

The hospital is a large tertiary centre with over 1,000 beds serving a population of over one million people. It’s a great place to work and the Paediatrics team have a reputation for delivering fantastic patient care. They’re incredibly welcoming of any new doctor joining their department and supportive of any sub-specialty interests. You’ll have access to state-of-the-art facilities as the hospital underwent a full refurbishment project a few years ago.

The location:

You’ll be based in a large city in the south of England which includes all the typical amenities you can think of including schools, shops, gyms, cafes, restaurants and parks. Being in the south of England gives you great connection links to London, a direct train takes only just over an hour between the two places. The city’s population is very multicultural, so for those doctors coming from an international background it’s easy to get settled. If you’re religious you’ll have access to a range of mosques, temples or churches close to the hospital.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • GMC registration complete or in process
  • Full MRCPCH

At least 4 years of Registrar experience if applying from overseas
