The Job

Are you looking for a dynamic General Medicine Registrar role that offers hands-on clinical experience in a regional hospital setting? This hospital is seeking General Medicine Service Registrars for 12-month fixed-term opportunities, commencing in 2025, with the possibility of extension(s).

General Medicine services at the hospital span two dedicated wards with 62 beds, providing registrars with broad exposure to acute and chronic medical conditions across diverse patient groups. You will be an essential part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, working closely with consultants, advanced trainees, RMOs, and interns to deliver high-quality patient care.

Under consultant supervision, you will develop essential skills in clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and inpatient care management, while also participating in safety, quality improvement, and education initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage new referrals and existing inpatients within General Medicine.
  • Perform comprehensive history-taking, examinations, and investigations.
  • Order and follow up on diagnostic tests and treatment plans.
  • Liaise with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
  • Work within a structured consultant-led team, contributing to the education of junior doctors.
  • Engage in safety and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

Requirements:

To apply for this role, you must have:
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
General Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
A minimum of two years of postgraduate clinical experience, preferably including General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or relevant acute care specialties.
A strong commitment to team-based care, patient safety, and quality improvement.

This position is open to General Medicine trainees, rural physician trainees, SIMGs, and registrars seeking broad clinical exposure in a regional hospital setting.
