A bespoke cancer centre in the Southwest is looking for a Specialty Doctor in Oncology to support the middle grade service as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team. It will be a permanent contract with a 10 PA (40 hours p/w) job plan supporting the delivery if cancer care to a large population. You will receive relevant Oncology training and support for long-term professional development towards a Consultant in Oncology. There will be some flexibility in the job plan for signing off competencies for CESR, and an optional protected radiotherapy planning time to pursue a career in Clinical Oncology. You can expect the following duties and responsibilities
- Diagnosing and treating patients under supervision
- Participating in Oncology clinics with consultants
- Caring for patients in the Oncology Day Unit
- Contributing towards the Acute Oncology Service
- Partaking in undergraduate teaching
- Recruiting and managing patients in clinical trials
- Contributing towards multidisciplinary team meetings
- Dedicated time for Supporting Professional Activities

Cancer Centre
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking Trust which is world-renowned for research and innovation. The cancer services have close links with local Universities and a very active Clinical Trials Unit. There are over 30 Consultant Oncologists dedicated to the bespoke Cancer Centre which serves a large population in the surrounding region. The specialist oncology services receive referrals from all over the Southwest and provides a wide range of treatments, including adult and children radiotherapy, brachytherapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. You’ll find in the cancer centre a large in-patient unit, acute assessment unit, out-patient chemotherapy unit, out-patient clinics and an advanced radiotherapy department which offers the following
- 5 linear accelerators
- 4-D CT/MRI based conformal radiotherapy
- Portal imaging
- 2D kV and cone beam CT
- Varian HDR GammaMed machine
- Gamma Knife Icon unit providing intra-cranial stereotactic radiosurgery
- Molecular radiotherapy department
- SABR service
- Clarity ultrasound for prostate IGRT

Requirements
- Full GMC Registration (or invitation to ID check) – essential
- Specialty specific experience in Oncology – essential
- MRCP (UK), FRCR (UK) or equivalent post graduate medical qualification – desirable
