An exclusive opportunity to join an advanced Oncology centre as a Consultant in Medical Oncology covering Breast and UGI, although some flexibility can be given for other subsite interests. There is a mentorship scheme available, and you’re encouraged to use this service for further relevant Oncology training and job plan reviews to ensure the commitments cover your interests and preferences. If you’d like to pursue cancer research, the Trust has an active cancer research programme and is nationally recognised for recruiting and developing clinical trials, particularly in Breast:

  • Working with a multidisciplinary team treatment Breast and UGI cancers
  • Providing SACT treatment for relevant subsites
  • Giving care to inpatients and outpatients
  • Partaking in the acute oncology services
  • Leading the CUP service (optional)
  • Participating in Breast and UGI multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Taking part in national and international clinical studies and trials
  • Partaking in clinical audit and continuing professional development
  • Contributing towards the remote on-call rota, once settled in post
  • Teaching and training junior medical staff
  • Carrying out undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

Cancer Centre

This an exciting time to join a Trust which is expanding its services and striving to help a larger population. You’ll be based in the main Hospital which has a custom-built haematology and oncology ward and cancer out-patient clinics. The centre is well-staffed by consultants and treat all common tumour sites. They are closely connected with neighbouring Trusts which treat rarer tumours, and there’s opportunities for consultants to visit these centres to cover them. There are specialty registrars as well as foundation year trainees, and the Trust is committed to education and medical training. You’ll also be working alongside a well-established nursing team and radiographers. Research is strongly encouraged within Oncology and there are active clinical trials.


Location

  • You have a choice of living in the city or in one of the neighbouring smaller towns or villages, which have a straight-forward commute to the hospital
  • There is a variety of top schools (rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted) and Universities nearby
  • There are plenty of shops as well as social and leisure activities to get involved with and lots of attractive countryside to explore
  • There are excellent transport links to neighbouring cities

Requirements

  • GMC Registration with License to Practice, or invitation to ID check – essential
  • Ability to practice independently in Medical Oncology – essential
  • Full MRCP (UK) or equivalent postgraduate medical qualification – desirable
