NHS Locum Consultant in Clinical Oncology (Gynae and flexible secondary site)

This is a unique opportunity to join one of the top specialist cancer centres in the UK and one of the largest NHS providers of cancer services. The centre has an international reputation for its range of cancer care, and is especially desirable for IMGs wishing to join an international community with access to state-of-the-art cancer treatments and techniques. You will be working alongside a dedicated team on a 10PA (40 hours p/w) job plan, managing Gynae (including brachytherapy) and a secondary tumour site of your preference. You can expect the following duties and the job plan will be tailored following interview discussion.
- Join established multidisciplinary teams for Gynae and relevant secondary tumour site
- Supporting out-patient clinics
- Managing in-patients and the day ward
- Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings
- Planning and delivering radiotherapy
- Participating in teaching and training of
medical and non-medical staff, including undergraduates
- Supervising junior doctors including appraisal
and assessment
- Developing clinical trials and contributing to research dedicated time for Supporting Professional Activities

Cancer Centre
The Cancer Centre is one of the largest in the UK, providing
cancer care to a population of over 2 million. They provide a comprehensive
range of inpatient care, acute oncology, advanced radiotherapy, systemic
anti-cancer therapies and radiology. The radiotherapy department is advanced
and up to date, with access to the NHS Linacs (Truebeams with 6-DoF couches,
Clinac IX, Novalis TX with Siemens Confidence scanner, Edge) and radiotherapy
planning using Varian Eclipse (PET/CT planning, CT radiotherapy planning, MRI
planning)
You’ll be a joining a large multidisciplinary team including Consultant Oncologists, Haematologists, Radiologists, Physicians, Nurses, non-medical prescribers, and a large cohort of Medical Students, Registrars, Specialty Doctors, Clinical Fellows, and Juniors. The Centre is adjacent to the local University and has close links with the local Medical School. They have a strong emphasis on Medical Education and encourage a team of Supervisors which cover all grades, from undergraduate to consultant, so further development as a Locum Consultant is encouraged and supported (i.e. Specialist Registration via CESR pathway). They have an excellent infrastructure in place to support studies and cancer research and are building a world-class reputation for research and innovation

The Requirements
- Full GMC Registration (essential)
- Ability to work independently at consultant
level within Oncology (essential)
- Full MRCP (UK), FRCR (UK) or equivalent
post-graduate qualification (desirable)
