This Department of Urology seeks to appoint a consultant urologist to join our existing team of 5 consultants and 6 specialty doctors. This post is permanent and they would welcome applicants with a specific interest in Andrology / Fertility services, however this is not essential.

The Urology team at this Trust is developing its service as part of GIRFT recommendations, introducing new ways of working and to further develop its urology diagnostic unit. They need a Consultant Urologist with vision and leadership skills to join their current team of enthusiastic surgeons to strengthen their team for the future.

The main expectations and duties of the job plan will be as follows:

  • To deliver high quality diagnostics, as well as treatment and management, of adult patients with urological disorders and diseases in line with clinical protocols. You will be proactively ensuring that all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making, whilst ensuring to deliver our high standard of care consistently.
  • Ensure prompt attendance at agreed Direct Clinical Care Programmed Activities.
  • Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care, responding to their views in a professional manner.
  • Contribute positively to the team and promote a culture of collaborative working with colleagues across the Partnership to optimise patient safety.
  • Ensure clinical guidelines and protocols are adhered to by junior medical staff and updated on a regular basis.
  • Keep fully informed about best practice in the specialty/sub-specialty areas and ensure implications for practice changes are discussed with the Clinical Director.

The Urology department in this Trust provides comprehensive services for a full spectrum of urological problems. They are looking for a dynamic and motivated Urology Consultant to join our friendly and enthusiastic team consisting of 5 Consultants and 6 specialty doctors. The post is ideal for urologist who are keen to explore new innovative improvements within the service and have an interest and active role in teaching.

There is a strong focus on career development and professional support within a forward-thinking and supportive urology department. The Trust is committed to support and provide funds for education and development. We are particularly keen to support new research and you will be encouraged to contribute to these areas.

Requirements

  • GMC Registration with License to Practice (essential)
  • Ability to practice independently at Consultant level (essential)
  • MRCS at a minimum, with FRCS/FEBU and Specialist Registration being highly desirable
