Locum Consultant in Clinical Oncology (Breast and Urology)

This is an exclusive interview opportunity to join established multidisciplinary Breast and Urology cancer teams in a bespoke cancer centre with a national reputation for successfully onboarding overseas trained Oncology doctors. It will be a 10PA job plan with some flexibility to accommodate individual interests and preferences, such as specific tumour sites. Applicants for Consultant in Medical Oncology will also be considered for the post. You can expect the following

  • Radiotherapy planning sessions
  • Prescribing SACT
  • Conducting new patient and follow up out-patient clinics
  • Participating in Acute Oncology Service ward rounds
  • Contributing to site-specific multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Partaking in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching
  • Dedicated time for Continued Professional Development
  • Participating in academic research and clinical trials

Cancer Centre

The Cancer Centre is part of one of the UK’s busiest and most reputable Trusts which has gone through a recent expansion to grow its bespoke cancer services. There’s a large, well-funded research team which collaborates with the region’s cancer research network as well as an established academic department which works closely with local Universities. Patients are referred from across the country to receive a wide array of specialised care in both RT and SACT using advanced technology. There is a chemotherapy suite with inpatient beds in purpose-built wards and outpatient units are well staffed by specialist cancer nurses. The Cancer Centre offers a range of radiotherapy equipment, including:

  • Varian Linear Accelerators
  • IMRT and VMAT (RapidArc)
  • Xstrahl superficial/orthovoltage radiotherapy machine
  • PDR Selectron
  • Virtual Simulators (spiral CT scanner)
  • Radiosurgery department; Stereotactic radiotherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery
  • Gamma knife
  • Facilities for the use of unsealed isotopes

The Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration (essential)
  • Ability to work independently at consultant level within Clinical Oncology (essential)
  • Full MRCP (UK), FRCR (UK) or equivalent post-graduate qualification (desirable)
