Are you an experienced and motivated Consultant in Emergency Medicine with an interest in Paediatrics ? A dynamic Trust in the West Midlands is looking for a dedicated clinician to join their busy Emergency Department. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to both adult and paediatric emergency care within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Consultant in Emergency Medicine with a focus on Paediatric Emergency Medicine, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical Leadership: Providing expert leadership in both adult and paediatric emergency care, ensuring efficient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of emergency presentations.
  • Paediatric Emergency Care: Playing a vital role in the care of paediatric patients attending the Emergency Department, ensuring high standards of clinical management and patient experience.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including paediatricians, emergency nurses, and junior doctors, to ensure seamless, integrated care for patients of all ages.
  • Education and Training: Supporting the development of junior doctors and other healthcare professionals, offering supervision, teaching, and mentorship, particularly in paediatric emergency care.
  • Service Development: Contributing to the ongoing improvement of emergency services, including pathway development, quality improvement projects, and governance activities.
  • Rota and Working Hours: Participating in a consultant-led rota that includes daytime, evening, and weekend shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage of emergency services.

The Requirements

Essential:

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register for Emergency Medicine (or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview).
  • Experience managing both adult and paediatric emergency cases.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teaching skills.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
  • Experience in quality improvement, service development, or clinical research.
