This is a full-time Consultant in Respiratory Medicine position with General Medicine on calls. This post is a vital part of the Trust’s ongoing development of medical services, it gives the successful applicant the opportunity to work with the existing Respiratory physicians to provide a high standard of care across the Trust. The team are looking for doctors who have the motivation to become leading figures within the department as well as the wider organization.


Main Duties:

The appointee will be expected to take charge of the care of inpatients and outpatients in the Respiratory Department. They will be expected to maintain the high standards of care associated with the hospital.

  • You will be required to work the General Medicine on call rota as part of your duties
  • You will be expected to teach and supervise the junior doctors within department.
  • The appointee will be required to participate in the organisation, planning and implementation of directorate plans and monthly audit meetings.
  • Participation in audits, research projects and clinical governance taking place at the Trust.
  • Actively keep practice/procedures up to date. Maintain professional development through a portfolio.
  • Support development and delivery of sub-specialist respiratory services within the hospital.

A large teaching hospital in the South West of England. The hospital is part of one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country and comes with some excellent educational resources which you can benefit from. The community within the hospital is made up of people who come from a wide range of backgrounds. It’s a hospital very well-known for the support it offers incoming clinicians. They also have a structured programme in place to help doctors who are working in the NHS for the first time get used the system in the UK.



The location:

The South West is a wonderful place to live, especially so for those with young families. The area is a tourist hotspot in the summer and is well-known for its warmer climate and beautiful coastal scenery. You have the choice of living in some amazing rural locations or if you prefer a more urban lifestyle, then you can live in cities like Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth.


Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification - MRCP (UK), MRCP (Ireland), PLAB, USMLE, Sri Lankan MD etc.
  • English qualification e.g. IELTS/OET
  • GMC registration complete or in process
  • Previous Consultant experience either in the UK or overseas
  • At least five years of experience working specifically in internal Medicine or Respiratory Medicine.
