Role and Responsibilities
As a Consultant Paediatrician with a focus on Diabetes and/or Endocrinology, you will become an integral part of a team comprising 14 consultant paediatricians. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Clinical Duties: Providing comprehensive paediatric and neonatal care, with a special emphasis on managing diabetes and endocrine disorders. Your practical skills and experience in these areas will be vital to delivering high-quality patient care.
- On-Call Commitment: Participating in a resident on-call rota, ensuring continuous consultant-delivered care. The on-call schedule is designed to provide substantial time off during the week, supporting a healthy work-life balance. Evening and weekend resident cover is supported by three middle-grade doctors.
- Special Interests: While a strong foundation in general paediatrics and neonatology is essential, the department encourages consultants to develop and integrate additional special interests that complement the existing team. Opportunities for on-the-job development in these areas are available.

The Requirements
Essential:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Completion of higher specialist training in paediatrics or equivalent
- Experience in managing paediatric diabetes and/or endocrine disorders
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications or training in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes
- Experience in teaching and supervising junior medical staff
- A track record of involvement in clinical research or quality improvement projects
