We are working with a distinguished NHS Trust to recruit two experienced and proactive Consultants in Respiratory Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and dynamic respiratory medicine team, with all that London has to offer right on your doorstep.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide timely advice and guidance, triage referrals, and manage outpatient clinics, addressing both new and follow-up patients with respiratory conditions
  • Lead ward rounds and offer in-reach services to acute care, ensuring comprehensive patient management
  • Participate in a 1 in 10 respiratory on-call rota, contributing to the department's emergency response
  • Attend governance, audit, business, medical faculty, and departmental meetings, actively engaging in the Trust's operational and strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, and managerial colleagues to enhance clinical efficiency, quality of outcomes, financial management, and operational effectiveness
  • Commit to annual appraisal and medical revalidation, utilising Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) time for continuous professional development
  • Participate in mandatory training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to maintain and enhance clinical skills
  • Support the teaching, training, and supervision of junior doctors

Successful applicants will undertake appropriate subspecialist and general respiratory clinics. The Trust will consider individuals with any subspecialty interest, although they are particularly keen to consider candidates with experience in:

  • Acute Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV)/High Dependency Unit (HDU) care, leading on the development of Respiratory Support Units
  • Respiratory infection, including tuberculosis (TB)
  • Sleep-Disordered Breathing

The Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Completion of specialist training in Respiratory Medicine.
  • Demonstrated competence in managing acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Subspecialty interest in Acute NIV/HDU care, respiratory infection including TB, or Sleep-Disordered Breathing.
  • Experience in teaching and supervising junior medical staff.
  • Involvement in clinical audits and quality improvement projects.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and education.
