This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established NHS Foundation Trust, seeking a skilled Respiratory Consultant with an interest in sub specialty Lung Cancer to join their team. Role and Responsibilities
- Leading and managing outpatient clinics, offering consultations and long-term management for patients with respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and interstitial lung disease.
- Providing clinical leadership and managing the care of patients admitted to the hospital with acute respiratory problems, including facilitating their treatment and discharge planning.
- Conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as bronchoscopy, pulmonary function tests, and sleep studies.
- Collaborating with colleagues across various specialties to ensure comprehensive care for complex cases, including cases that involve other medical disciplines.
- Supervising and mentoring junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare staff, ensuring high standards of clinical care are met and providing education and training in respiratory medicine.
- Participating in the department’s on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support for urgent respiratory cases, ensuring continuity of care.
- Taking an active role in the development and review of clinical guidelines, protocols, and care pathways to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
- Engaging in clinical research and audits to contribute to the department’s ongoing quality improvement initiatives and enhance the care provided to patients.
- Contributing to the department’s teaching and educational activities, ensuring that junior staff develop their skills and knowledge in respiratory medicine.

The Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification MRCP
- Undertaken programme of training acceptable to the Royal College of Physicians for appointment to Consultant Status
- Entry on the Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of interview), CESR or European Community Rights
- Evidence of specific training in Respiratory Medicine
- A commitment to maintaining professional skills and knowledge relevant to the role
Desirable Criteria:
- ALS Provider certificate
- Evidence of involvement in Clinical Research & participation in Clinical Audit
