Are you passionate about paediatric respiratory medicine and ready to join a nationally recognised centre of excellence? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine to join a leading children’s hospital in the South of England, delivering care across a population of 3.5 million.

You will become part of a highly respected and expanding team of respiratory consultants, providing inpatient and outpatient care across a broad range of respiratory conditions. This role would particularly suit candidates with a special interest in cystic fibrosis (CF) and suppurative lung disease.


Main Duties: 

  • Provide consultant-led inpatient care on a 1 in 6 Consultant-of-the-Week rota (including weekends).
  • Deliver specialist outpatient clinics in cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, and general respiratory medicine.
  • Contribute to regional outreach clinics for CF and long-term ventilation (LTV).
  • Take part in service development, clinical governance, and teaching of junior medical staff.

 

The Service:

This paediatric respiratory unit is a regional referral centre with a wide-ranging service that includes:

  • A large CF network caring for over 230 children.
  • Over 250 children on LTV supported by a dedicated MDT.
  • One of only four highly specialised centres for Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) in England.
  • Advanced sleep, asthma, allergy, and complex airway services.
  • A dynamic research environment with active participation in CF, sleep, asthma, and rare lung disease studies.

Requirements:

  • GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT).
  • Expertise in cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, or sleep and ventilation.
  • A strong team ethic and passion for collaborative, multidisciplinary work.
  • Interest in research, service development, and education.
