This is fantastic opportunity for a Consultant in Clinical Oncology to specialise in early and advanced breast cancers with adjuvant endocrine treatment, palliative radiotherapy, and CNS tumours. You will be responsible for both radiotherapy and systemic therapy treatments, working alongside an established and expanding Oncology multidisciplinary team. You’ll be based at the largest Hospital site with all the main radiotherapy facilities, working in relevant subsites alongside other Consultant Clinical and Medical Oncologists, as well as Radiographers and Clinical Nurse Specialists. There will also be clinic commitments in a neighbouring Hospital site, where you will also be involved with palliative RT referrals from across the region. It’s a 10PA job plan, with the following main duties (these may be subject to change following interview and job plan review)

  • Planning radiotherapy and peer review
  • Prescribing SACT
  • Working with palliative radiotherapy referrals
  • Participating in regional Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings
  • Partaking in ward rounds
  • Attending new patient and follow up patient outpatient clinics
  • Managing patient-related admin
  • Recruiting patients to clinical trials
  • Contributing to the active clinical research programme
  • Taking active role in clinical governance activities (clinical audit, incident reporting, complaint review, risk management)
  • Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates
  • Committing to on-call rota

Cancer Centre

This is a large University Hospital Trust where Oncology services provide care to a population of over a million. There is a committed Consultant team of over 30 Clinical and Medical Oncologists who work closely in relevant multi-disciplinary teams. The Cancer Centre has a fantastic Oncology specialist training programme and a highly successfully academic training programme and there are also foundation trainees who rotate within the department. There is a major commitment to cancer research and the centre has strong links with the neighbouring University and Medical School, so you’ll be able to partake in an active clinical trials portfolio and participate in different research projects. The inpatient and outpatient units are supported by trained staff and the radiotherapy department is well-equipped with advanced techniques. There are
