Consultant Community Paediatrician

The team are looking for an experienced pediatric consultant to contribute to the delivery of a quality service across an integrated acute and community role. This role is suited to someone with a proven track record in Neurodevelopment and Child Safeguarding assessment. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team putting patient care at the forefront of the service.

Main Duties

As a Consultant Community Paediatrician, you will be expected to:

• Supervise middle grade pediatricians and Specialist Practitioners in Child Development.
• Conduct Monthly Neurodevelopment MDT meetings and video conferences.
• Independently conduct Child development and Neuro-disability assessments.
• Be involved in clinical audit for areas of interest and sub-specialist expertise.
• Participate in teaching and training of junior staff and medical students where appropriate.  
• There are no on call commitments in this role although you will be responsible for acute safeguarding assessments.
• Attend an APLS/NLS course if not already trained.
• Ensure delivery of a high-quality Paediatric service.

The Hospital

• The post is based out of an Acute University Trust with 750+ beds. You will be based in a community clinic local to the Trust and expected to engage in visits to regional schools.
• The Trust is one of only 2 in the NHS with a dedicated CESR lead and are committed to developing internationally trained doctors. As part of this commitment, Individuals going through CESR will get 6 workshops per year and 12 meetings per year.

• The Trust is located in the northwest of England based in a quaint costal location.
• The hospital is situated in a large urban town just over an hour from Manchester a major Metropolitan city in the UK.
• There is access to major international airports, which means it is easy to travel and visit family in other countries.
• This is an area with a low living cost and so is popular with larger families who want to find long-term living arrangements at a reasonable price.

Requirements

The team are open to applicants from the UK or from overseas Pediatricians and will support you in settling into the new role.

• GMC Registration with full MRCPCH.
• Fantastic leadership skills and ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.

• Demonstrable experience in Neuro-disability and child development assessments
• Exceptional communication skills and professionalism.
• Confident in decision making related to child safeguarding cases.
• An in-depth knowledge of audit, quality improvement and clinical governance.
