If you're interested in being a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, this is an exciting chance. A well-known healthcare group wants a motivated doctor to join them. Geriatric medicine is a subspecialty of general internal medicine, and it is often a very accessible way for international doctors with a wide range of experience in general medicine to join the NHS. This post is perfect for experienced doctors with a special interest in ensuring the best care for elderly patients.
Main Duties:
- Supervise and lead ward rounds and OPD.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings.
- Contribute to the education and teaching of junior doctors, nurses, and other medical staffing.
- Promote a friendly and team-based working environment.
- Participate in clinical governance activities including clinical audits, incident reporting, risk management, complaint reviews, CPD.
- Continue to contribute to research and knowledge in the field of geriatric medicine.
- Comply with Trust and GMC standards for appraisal and revalidation and continuing professional development.
- Participate in the on-call rota, as required.
The Hospital:
This Trust is one of the largest in the country, with a huge workforce that caters to the needs of their patients. There are over 1,800 inpatient beds across the multiple sites of the Trust. The geriatrics department consists of multiple wards, with over 40 beds dedicated to the high-quality care of elderly and acutely frail patients. The Consultant appointed for this post will be working in collaboration with other specialists in respective fields, such as frailty, acute medicine, and trauma and orthopaedics.
The location:
Living just an hour and a half away from London offers an excellent work-life balance. You won't face the high costs of living in the city center, yet you're just a quick train ride from there. This area has a high quality of life and many lovely towns and villages to pick from. You'll find beautiful countryside, historic towns, and plenty of cultural attractions in the county. There is also a very high standard of education here, with many great schools, making it a family-friendly place to call home. This location is also less than two hours away from multiple airports, so you will be able to visit friends and family abroad without a problem.
Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- Full MRCP (or equivalent)
- GMC with a license to practice
- Wide range of experience in geriatric or general medicine.
