This well-reputed Trust are looking for driven, excited, forward thinking SHO’s to join their amazing team! You will be part of a Major Acute Hospital based near the heart of the capital of the UK.

As an Acute Medicine SHO, you’ll be expected to work across three separate areas, the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU), Acute Medical Unit (AMU), and the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).  

Main Duties:

  • You’ll be expected to diagnose and manage patients presenting acute medical issues who come into the hospital.
  • You will be part of a rota where you will work different patterned shifts
  • You will have an educational and clinical supervisor and will be entitled to study leave.
  • The trust have a PACES teaching programme which you will be enrolled in.
  • Have time to work on your Eportfolio

  • Actively participate in teaching, audits, research
  • Keep up to date with NHS protocols and your own knowledge
  • Close supervision will be available at all times but you will be encouraged to make your own initiative.

The Hospital:

The hospital is based in London and has roughly 600 beds. The team are incredibly supportive of international doctors so you’ll be well-looked after here. You will be part of a big team of registrars and consultants that you can lean on when in need. 

It is one of many hospitals in the NHS that have a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit offering rapid treatment to patients who need it. You will have exposure to all different types of emergency cases, providing you great experience when hands on.

The location:

London is the most popular city to live in the UK, with an estimated population of 9 million people. It is an incredibly diverse, welcoming city to live in with lots of things to do. 

The city has a very high-quality infrastructure system as well so you can either live more centrally or you can live in the suburbs and commute in easily on the train.  

Not only are you near the heart of the UK, you are also surrounded by beautiful, scenic greenery where you can get in touch with nature. Perfect for long walks and sight seeing on sunny bright days.

  • GMC registration complete or in process.
  • NHS Experience is a requirement
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (MRCP, MRCPI, USMLE, PLAB, Sri Lankan MD, etc.) 
  • Previous/current Registrar-level experience overseas or in the UK.
